Homeless Shelter Volunteers

Assumption Church is planning to host a homeless shelter from January 4 through February 5. They need volunteers to cook, open up and stay overnight. This important and rewarding ministry will not be possible unless sufficient volunteers step forward. If you want information or will help, contact Tom Amon at [email protected] or Patrick McEntee at [email protected] or Kathy Reynolds at [email protected] (re: homeless shelter).

Catholic Charities Christmas Toy Drive

The Brooklyn West Community Center of Catholic Charities is conducting a toy drive on behalf of local families with children between infancy and age 18 years. Many of these children receive no toys or gifts of any kind at Christmas. The Community Center distributes toys to 1000 families and over 2,100 children.

If you can help, we will be collecting donations in the carton at the entrance of the Church through Sunday, December 13. All donations should be UNWRAPPED and can be either seasonally appropriate clothing, or toys. (Please, no guns, knives, or other violent toys.)
The greatest need is gifts for teenagers. Although all donations are gratefully accepted, many teenagers most enjoy receiving gift certificates from popular chain clothing stores. If you donate a gift certificate please drop it off at the rectory or give it to Fr Ed.
